C.N. Blue’s Dreamer

1st STAGE:

You are waiting patiently back stage, tuning your guitar, letting the sound of anxious fan fill your ears with their impatient chanting. As calm as you looked, it was hard to believe that you really had a dozen butterflies fluttering in your stomach. Or that your heart was racing at a hundred beats per minute.

“Ok! You ready?” the producer shouted over, what sounded like a shrinking mob of teenagers. “Remeber to stick with the list of songs I gave, don’t get any idea of changing it otherwise you’ll screw the concept were going for! Also make sure you end with “I Loved You a Thousand Times” by Co-ed School, Got it?” You nodded in reply, “Great well get out there,” the producer gives you quick pat on the back before sending you of stage. Once on stage everyone becomes quiet… You didn’t bother introducing yourself, your job was to sing and get off stage. Your job was to distract this impatient mob until the real band arrives. You sigh, sadden by this thought, while also releasing the last of those unwanted butterflies. You look at the crowd and began to sing.

“I can see it in your eyes…..

Taste it in our first kiss…..

Stranger in this lonely town,

Save me from my emptiness….”

You look at the crowd and notice a few singing along to this english song, and smile, as you continue to strum away on the guitar.

At the door, they were glad to have gotten in unnoticed, but were surprised when no one began to shout: “Ah!!!! Yong Hwa Oppa!” or “It’s C.N. Blue! Ahhh!” Either way it involved a lot of screaming. But all they heard was a crowd singing along (as best they could) in english, with a young girl who was playing on her guitar.

“Wow, Hyung! Is that the new kid?” Min Hyuk shouted.

“Wait I thought Ajeosshi said it was gonna be a guy… With a band!” Jong Hyun replied knowing perfectly well that the question was meant for Yong Hwa.

“That, Hyung, is a girl playing a guitar.”

“She’s probably just an opener,” Jung Shin stated.

“Yeah but she really has the crowd.” Yong Hwa pointed out. They all focused on her, listening quietly to her rendition of This Love by The Veronicas.

“Even if I leave you now,

And it breaks my heart,

Even if I’m not around,

I won’t give in,

I can’t give up,

On this love…”

She didn’t even wait for the crowd to applause, and quickly began to play a every familiar melody on her guitar.

“Lalala la laaa~ La laa~ La la la~

Gieogeul jiunda,

Nunmullo jiunda,

Nae ane dameul suga eomneun neol,

Chueogeul tteominda,

Apeumeul tteominda,”

Min Hyuk began to pat Yong Hwa’s shoulder repeatedly, shouting. “Hyung! She singing one of our songs! It’s our song!”

“Well thank you for pointing out the obvious, Hyung.” Jung Shin replied.

“I swear Minnie ever since that drama you bring a bit of your characters home.” Jong Hyun teased. “But he’s right it’s one of our songs. It make me feel great that even our older songs are still popular. It’s also a difficult duet for someone singing it alone.”

“But she slow it down just enough so she can sing smoothly. And she’s really making this song her own.” Yong Hwa smiled.

“To bad talent like hers may only shine once a night on a stage like this, if she’s lucky.” a man said as he walked towards the members, “Quite a shame she’s just an opener. Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Sun Min, X-Change’s manager and producer. I’m glad you all showed up to support my boys.” he smiled.

“Oh yeah! I wouldn’t miss it! They’ll be our first dongsaeng. We finally get to be the bully.” Jong Hyun joked.

Yong Hwa shoved him playfully and looked at the producer,“We’re more then happy to lend our support, in anyway we can.”

The producer laughed, “It’s reassuring to know that my boys will be under the watchful eyes of such accomplished hyungs. I sure wish I had found you sooner so you could have a least spoken to them but….” he looked at the stage and notice shadows shifting behind the girl as she came to the end of her third song.

“Looks like it’s time for their debut. Please enjoy their show.”

Everyone’s eyes were focused on you. Then you heard the sound of the keyboard being played. You set the guitar down. Still remaining on your stool you move closer to the mic. You took in a deep breath, as you waited to finally hear his voice, ready to sing back to him.

“Gudaeraso gasumi ttwinun golyo,

Darun saramun andwaeyo,

Hwabune muljudut,

Gudae’e sarangun,

Nal saragage haejunun golyo…”

You realize as you begin to sing back to him, that his voice sounds familiar. Husky, warm and full of heart… Just like his…. You can hear him make his way closer to you as you begin to sing in reply to his call. You turn to look at him, as if almost dedicating this song to him. But you stop before continuing the second verse. You stop and stare at his vaguely  familiar eyes, which remained unfazed by your appearance, as he continued to sing….
